| Technical documents consist of several components. Explanatory texts are created with BauText. Calculation macros save the arduous use of the pocket calculator. The engineer has the appropriate specialist programs for more complex calculations. These structural analysis programs are seamlessly integrated via interfaces. This makes it possible, therefore, to create complete technical documentation in a single continuous document. The benefits for creating, changing, reusing and administrating are enormous. |

| The following interfaces are available for transferring calculations: |

| Intelligent interfaces: The structural analysis programs from Friedrich+Lochner and Dlubal as well as the CAD software from Nemetschek and Glaser -isb cad- are directly integrated in BauText. |

| BML interface: We have included an XML-based interface in BauText. Many software producers in structural engineering are already using this interface (RIB, D.I.E., Tornow, Dr. Hartmann, Weitendorf, PCAE (in progress)) and others have shown interest. BML is becoming ever more prevalent as the default format for transfer to BauText. |

| t2W technology: t2W is installed as a printer driver. Similar to PDF, t2W directs the print output of all Windows programs to the TechEditor. This completely novel solution can be used to transfer the output of each program quickly and easily. |

| OLE technology: Objects that have been created with other programs can be integrated using OLE technology. The precondition is that the program to be integrated is also OLE-compatible. |

| Clipboard: This is a Windows standard and is mentioned for completeness. |

| 3.2.2 Integrating structural analysis prorams |

| Intelligent interfaces enable the transfer of the complete output of structural analysis programs. Explanations, details of structural design or additional calculations can be supplemented or inserted. If the potential for digital structural analysis is consistently implemented throughout the procedure in the engineering office, savings and benefits can be significantly higher than with the introduction of CAD. Further information on the integration Friedrich+Lochner and Dlubal is given in Chapter 3.6. |

For the first time the unique t2W technology (transpose to worksheet) allows the transfer of the outputs of all Windows programs. The outputs of the individual programs can be supplemented by calculations and comments in BauText. The concept of t2W technology goes significantly further. It provides the engineer with a new tool that offers numerous possibilities in technical documentation. t2W can summarise the outputs of a wide range of different programs with a consistent layout in a single document. What's new is that expressions in a text program can be very easily supplemented by comments, calculations, standardised headers and footers, the table of contents and much more. The application possibilities are numerous. Further information on the interface is given in Chapter 3.4. |

| 3.2.4 Integrating OLE objects |

| Objects that have been created with other programs can be integrated using OLE technology. Such an object can be a graphic, for example, a table or the results text from a calculation. Prerequisite is that the program used to create an object is OLE-compatible. This is normally the case with standard and CAD software. Calculation programs, however, are less likely to contain this technology. You can create a new embedded object or open an existing file. |

| Just a double-click is enough to edit an object. The integrated program will start automatically. Further information on the interface is given in Chapter 3.5. |

| 3.2.5 BauText BML standard interface |
||||||||||
| We have included a BML interface which means the output of each program to BauText can be quickly and easily realised with this solution. If you need to transfer the output of one of your programs, please contact the software manufacturer if necessary. Realisation is normally easy and convenient since we provide appropriate tools at no charge. Prerequisites are: |

| The calculation program must offer the possibility of creating and sending BML files (for more details, see the documentation of the respective program). |
||||||||||
| If the program sends the file, the document must be open in BauText. The insert takes place at the cursor position. |
||||||||||
| Otherwise stored BML files are read via File - Import - BML. |
||||||||||
The interface is based on XML-like ASCII format. This can be generated by any manufacturer. We are glad to support the manufacturer with the development and are open to enhancements at all times. The sometimes very pressing requests of our customers confirm that we are on a very innovative and promising path with this approach. |
